Conference room sizing reference

Common DFW conference table sizes and the room dimensions they fit, before AV and credenza considerations:

  • 6-person rectangular (6’×3.5′) — fits a 12×10 room; typical small-team meeting space.
  • 8-person rectangular (8’×3.5′) — fits a 14×12 room.
  • 10-person rectangular or boat (10’×4′) — fits a 16×13 room.
  • 12-person boat or racetrack (12’×4′) — fits an 18×14 room. The most common DFW conference table size we install.
  • 14-person racetrack (14’×4′) — fits a 20×15 room. Common for partner conference rooms in mid-sized law firms.
  • 16-to-22-person executive boardroom configurations — custom sizing to room; typically 16 to 22 feet long, with paired credenza, AV-integrated cable management, and matched conference seating.

Chair clearance from the table edge is the most-often-missed dimension. A conference chair with arms typically needs 3 feet of clearance on the long side of the table, plus circulation space behind the chairs (typically another 3 feet). The layout-fit math is what the detailed floor plan step covers — we draw the table, the chairs, the clearances, and the entry/exit paths against your actual room dimensions before the order is signed.

New vs pre-owned conference room furniture

Pre-owned conference tables from major manufacturers are widely available in DFW. Steelcase, Haworth, Kimball, and Jofco conference tables in 8-to-14-person sizes recur in our inventory; matched-set pre-owned conference seating (Aeron, Leap V2, Gesture) pairs cleanly. The savings are meaningful — a pre-owned conference table that lists at premium pricing new often runs meaningfully below new pricing.

New conference tables make sense when the room calls for a specific size or finish that does not appear in pre-owned inventory at the right time, when AV-integrated cable management is part of the spec, or when warranty horizons matter for premium boardroom installations. We coordinate new conference table orders with relevant manufacturers depending on the project; lead times typically run 4 to 10 weeks.

AV and cable management

Most DFW conference rooms now have at least a wall-mounted display, a video-conferencing system, and an in-table cable management module for laptop power and HDMI/USB-C pass-through. The conference table needs to accommodate the AV configuration; we coordinate with the customer’s AV vendor on cable runs, in-table grommet placement, and any custom millwork the AV install requires. The detailed floor plan step captures the AV touchpoints so the install does not surface conflicts at the install date.
