Used Herman Miller office furniture in DFW.
Where to buy inspected pre-owned Herman Miller in Dallas-Fort Worth, what “inspected” actually involves, and how used Aeron, Mirra, and Sayl chairs compare against buying new. Written by Eggleston Office — a family-owned DFW dealer that has been selling pre-owned furniture since 1981 and inspects every chair before it is offered.
The short version
Used Herman Miller is the most efficient way to put genuinely premium task seating in a DFW office. The chairs were engineered to outlast their first owner — an Aeron’s mechanism is rated for years of daily use beyond the point where most companies replace furniture — so a clean, inspected pre-owned unit delivers the same kinematics as new at a fraction of the price. Used Aerons through Eggleston Office run 50 to 80 percent off new-Aeron MSRP depending on size, configuration, and mesh condition.
One thing to be clear about up front: Eggleston Office is not a Herman Miller authorized dealer, and buying pre-owned does not require one. Authorized dealers sell new chairs with Herman Miller’s factory warranty. Pre-owned chairs come with whatever inspection and warranty the reseller stands behind — which is exactly where the channel goes wrong for most buyers, because the typical used-chair source (auction lots, online liquidators) offers neither. We inspect every chair in Euless before it is offered and back it with our own one-year mechanism warranty.
The rest of this page covers which Herman Miller models come through pre-owned inventory, what our inspection actually checks, what the warranty covers, and when used Herman Miller is the wrong call.
Side-by-side: used Herman Miller vs new Herman Miller vs new 9to5 Seating
| Dimension | Used Herman Miller (Eggleston Office) | New Herman Miller (authorized dealer network) | New 9to5 Seating (Eggleston Office) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical per-chair cost (DFW, 2026) | Lowest — quoted per chair; used Aerons run 50 to 80 percent off new-Aeron MSRP | Highest in the category; quoted by model and options through the dealer network | Meaningfully below new Herman Miller at the matched tier; quoted by model and options |
| Lead time | Same week for in-stock units; 1–3 weeks for sourced units | 6 – 12 weeks from authorized dealer order | 2 – 5 weeks from order via Eggleston Office |
| Warranty | Eggleston Office one-year warranty on mechanism (gas cylinder, recline mechanism, base, casters) and frame integrity; original Herman Miller warranty does not transfer | 12 years on mechanism (Herman Miller standard, full coverage) | 12 years on mechanism; lifetime on frame (9to5 standard) |
| Condition | Inspected; light service wear documented at quote — mechanism performs as designed | Factory new | Factory new |
| Configuration choice | Take what is in stock; minor swaps possible (casters, glides, arm pads) at extra labor | Full options book — size, fabric, finish, arms, lumbar | Wide — fabric, mesh, frame finish, casters, lumbar, arm style |
| Best fit when | The buyer wants Herman Miller engineering at the lowest cost and needs chairs this week or next | The buyer wants factory-new with the full 12-year warranty and can absorb both the price and the lead time | The buyer wants new with a comparable warranty at a much lower price and does not need the Herman Miller name |
Which Herman Miller models come through pre-owned inventory
Pre-owned Herman Miller inventory in DFW follows corporate turnover — offices downsizing, relocating, or refreshing furniture ahead of a lease event. The models that come through our Euless warehouse most often:
- Aeron — the volume leader by a wide margin, in both Classic and Remastered generations and all three sizes (A, B, C). Size B fits the broad middle of body types and is what most corporate fleets bought, so it dominates used inventory.
- Mirra and Mirra 2 — the polymer-back task chair; common in fleets that standardized a tier below Aeron.
- Sayl — the unframed-back chair; shows up when startup and creative offices turn over.
- Embody, Cosm, Setu — lower volume but recurring; quoted when available.
Aeron Classic vs Aeron Remastered — the distinction that matters in used inventory
Herman Miller redesigned the Aeron in 2016. The original (now called Aeron Classic) uses the earlier PostureFit lumbar and tension mechanism; the Remastered version updated the suspension to 8Z Pellicle zones, reworked the tilt mechanism, and added the PostureFit SL sacral support. Both are genuinely excellent chairs. In used inventory the Classic is more plentiful and lower priced; Remastered units command more because the redesign is newer and fleets that bought them are only now turning over. If your team is cross-shopping used Aerons against new, the Remastered generation is the closer comparison; if the goal is maximum seating value per dollar, clean Classics are usually the answer.
A remanufactured tier also exists for Aerons specifically — full rebuild with new mesh and mechanism components, priced between used and new. That four-path comparison (new, 9to5 alternative, remanufactured, used) is covered on our Aeron alternatives page.
What “inspected” means at Eggleston Office
Every pre-owned chair is inspected by our team in Euless before it enters inventory: cylinder pressure tested, recline mechanism cycled through its range, casters replaced if worn, mesh checked for sagging and edge fray, frame checked for impact damage. Chairs that fail inspection do not get offered. Cosmetic condition is documented at quote time — pre-owned chairs show light service wear (arm-pad edge wear, occasional marks on the base), and we do not refurbish to factory-new because full re-covering would erase the price advantage. The mechanism works the way Herman Miller built it to work; the cosmetic signal that the chair has been used is part of the deal.
The warranty: one year, mechanism-inclusive — gas cylinder, recline mechanism, base, casters, and structural frame integrity. If a chair we sold develops a mechanism failure under normal use inside the first year, we replace it. The original Herman Miller factory warranty does not transfer to second owners, which is exactly why the reseller’s own warranty is the thing to ask about when comparing used-chair sources.
When used Herman Miller is the wrong call
Three situations. First, if the buyer needs exact configuration control — a specific fabric program, matched finishes across a large fleet, particular arm or lumbar options — new is the only path that guarantees it; used inventory is take-what-exists. Second, if procurement requires factory-new with a manufacturer warranty (some enterprise and government processes do), the authorized-dealer channel is the answer and we will say so. Third, if the office wants new-chair economics anyway — full warranty horizon, zero prior use — but the Herman Miller price is the obstacle, the better move is usually a new 9to5 Seating chair at the matched tier rather than a used premium chair; that comparison is on our Herman Miller alternatives page.
How buying works
Tell us the headcount and the chairs you are considering, and we quote from current inspected inventory. We bring sample chairs to your office so people can sit in them in your actual space before you commit — or you can visit the Euless showroom by appointment. Every quote includes a free detailed floor plan if the project goes beyond chairs. Sales are non-commissioned, so the recommendation does not bend toward the expensive option.
Used Herman Miller in DFW: frequently asked questions
For most DFW offices, a clean inspected used Aeron is the better value. The mechanism is engineered for a service life far beyond the length of time most first owners keep it, so a used unit delivers the same kinematics — PostureFit or PostureFit SL, the Pellicle suspension, the full tilt range — at 50 to 80 percent off new-Aeron MSRP. New wins when you need exact configuration control, the full 12-year factory warranty, or procurement requires factory-new sourcing.
Quotes are per chair and move with model, size, generation (Classic vs Remastered), configuration, and mesh condition. As an anchor: used Aerons through Eggleston Office run 50 to 80 percent off new-Aeron MSRP. Mirra, Sayl, and the lower-volume models are quoted the same way — well below what the same chair costs new. Volume moves the number too; a 25-chair order quotes tighter per chair than a single unit.
An Eggleston Office one-year warranty covering the mechanism — gas cylinder, recline mechanism, base, casters — and structural frame integrity. If the chair fails under normal use inside the first year, we replace it. We do not cover cosmetic wear that develops in service or damage from use outside the chair’s design parameters. The original Herman Miller factory warranty does not transfer to second owners, regardless of who sells the chair.
No — and pre-owned does not require one. Herman Miller’s authorized dealer network sells new chairs with the factory warranty; for new Herman Miller, that network is the right place to buy, and we say so on this page. What we sell is inspected pre-owned Herman Miller backed by our own warranty, plus new chairs from 9to5 Seating, where we are an authorized dealer for DFW.
Aerons come in three sizes — A (small), B (medium), C (large) — marked by raised dots on the back of the chair. Size B fits the broad middle of body types and dominates used inventory because it is what corporate fleets standardized on. If your team needs a mix of sizes, tell us at quote time; A and C units come through inventory regularly but in lower volume, and we can source them when they are not in stock.
In-stock units typically deliver the same week anywhere in the metroplex — our crew dispatches from the Euless warehouse. Sourced units run one to three weeks. Both timelines beat the 6-to-12-week lead on new Herman Miller orders by a wide margin, which is often the deciding factor for projects with a hard move-in date.
Yes. We bring sample chairs to your office — used Aeron alongside whatever else you are cross-shopping, new 9to5 included if relevant — so your team evaluates them in your actual space. If you would rather come to us, the Euless showroom welcomes visits by appointment with inventory staged on the floor. Either way the evaluation costs nothing.
We source pre-owned Herman Miller regularly through inspected-inventory channels. For the recurring models — Aeron, Mirra, Sayl, Embody — a clean unit can usually be sourced within one to three weeks. We will not source a unit we cannot stand behind under our warranty; if the available inventory is poor condition or unverified, we say so and lay out the alternatives instead.
